The property of La Norma EcoLodge is also planned to emphasize the natural wonders of Costa Rica and Guanacaste province. The solely walking along the trails and into the forest next to the sheds is really a worthy attraction and a source of learning for visitors of all ages, specially the nature lovers.
It is not needed a great effort to have a close encounter and to accomplish taking incredible pictures of the howler monkeys from some of the three families which rove the Tropical Dry Forest, passing close to the sheds. Here is possible to spend time studying or simply admiring all the habits and behaviour of the Howler Monkey, its feeding, its daily grind, its periods for rest and nap, the deep and power howl of the male and the great care and devotion of the females in the attention of the young ones and babies (which fix to its mother body and hold in place even while in the high and agile maneuvers).
A great diversity of birds with so many shapes, colors and kinds of songs is one of the features of the forest in which the sheds are located. So the practice of bird watching and birding can be successfully guaranteed either as amateur or rigorous erudite willing to bring out a record of some of the most beautiful and interesting birds of Costa Rica.
Besides is possible to sight some other species of Tropical Dry Forest animals, like the Black Iguana, the Armadillo, the Coati, squirrels, and of course colorful butterflies.
There are spread throughout our land fruit trees original from our region, to the pleasure of our guests as fresh raw fruit or desserts. Also as part of the effort in the restoration of the original flora it has been planted trees of Almendro, Guachipelín, Cortés Amarillo, Caña Fístula, Cortés Negro, Llama del Bosque, Ron ron and Tempisque among others.
In a way of provide protection to one species of this zone, but unfortunately in serious risk of extinction due to the hunting for its meat, we maintain a group of tepezcuintles. The Tepezcuintle or Paca is an animal whose species is threatened, therefore this is of interest to all the visitors appreciating the preservation of native species from the regions visited.
